What is netCDF?
netCDF (Network Common Data Form) is a set of software libraries and machine-independent data formats that support the creation, access, and sharing of array-oriented scientific data. Widely used in atmospheric, oceanic, and other geoscience communities, netCDF facilitates data sharing and long-term data preservation.
Our Mission
The mission of the NetCDF Foundation is to ensure the continued support, development, and accessibility of NetCDF for the global scientific community. We cooperate with our Unidata colleagues and other netCDF projects and contributors to support scientists and scientific organizations who use netCDF.
This includes:
- Distribution of software releases
- Provision of documentation
- Responding to support requests
- Fixing bugs
- Adding new features
- Unit testing and continuous integration
The organization is organized exclusively for charitable, educational, and scientific purposes under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or corresponding section of any future federal tax code.
